 | FEBS Advanced Course: Modern Techniques in Molecular Immunology |
FEBS Advanced Course: Modern Techniques in Molecular Immunology will be held from 28.09.2003 till 03.10.2003 in Kyiv Institute of Biochemistry.
The programme of the courses comprises 5 days with the lectures on different topics on modern methodologies in immunological studies covering advanced practical course. The aim of the practical course is to provide hands-on experience in the use of phage-display technique with a focus on applications in the field of recombinant phage antibody system (RPAS) manipulation. The course is limited to 16 students to ensure adequate practical engagement of the participants.
Practical course covers the production and selection of phage particles. It will start with grounding in the basic principles of phage display libraries and recombinant antibodies techniques. Participants will perform two rounds of phage panning and selection antigen-specific phages from naive phage library. Then participants will be able to detect antigen- specific phages from infected E. coli cells in ELISA and to test its specificity. The lecture and practical sessions will be finished by round- table discussion of results and future perspectives. The aim is, on the one hand, to provide practical skills to though limited number of participants (16) but to those who have already worked in similar fields of science and/or are familiar with the technique involved, and may use it in their research. On the other hand, organizers are looking forward to vast participation of interested scientists in lecture course delivered by outstanding and world-known specialists in their field. Attendance is limited to 16 participants (12 foreign and 4 from Ukraine), selected on the basis of their CV and scientific background. The deadline for applications is June 1, 2003. Registration fee is set to 360 EUR and may be covered by Youth Travel Fund. You may apply for Youth travel grant if you are under the age of 31 (or you are within five years of having completed a PhD thesis) and if you are a member of a national FEBS or affiliated society (see YOUTH TRAVEL FUND instructions for details).
Organizing committee will notify all accepted participants before July 01, 2003.
